Gareth Carr is the founder and creative lead of Exposed Wolf. He came to filmmaking from an unexpected direction, leaving a career in land surveying to pursue it professionally, and over fourteen years has led productions for hundreds of organisations across Australia and internationally, with international work spanning New Zealand, Samoa, India and the United Kingdom, from small business marketing through to government campaigns, documentaries and feature films.
Clients rarely hire Gareth simply to film. They hire him to take a project from concept to completion, developing the creative, writing scripts, casting and coordinating talent, sourcing locations, directing on set and shaping the final edit. His eye was shaped early, when he studied Graphic Design at the University of Huddersfield and built a foundation in composition, typography and visual communication that still informs how he directs lighting, framing and grading. He remains a working cinematographer alongside his directing, is a member of the Australian Cinematographers Society, and holds a CASA Remote Pilot Licence that lets him carry out commercial drone and aerial work throughout Australia.
His commercial work sits alongside a growing body of feature film credits. Gareth wrote and directed the psychological thriller Saving Grace, which secured worldwide distribution and is available on streaming platforms including Amazon Prime, and he is currently in post-production on the Australian feature Life After Man, which features one of the final screen performances of the late Jack Charles AO. Across Sydney we film throughout the Northern Beaches and greater Sydney, from Manly, Dee Why and Frenchs Forest through to Sydney CBD, North Sydney, Surry Hills and Parramatta. To the north we are a regular fixture across the Central Coast, including Gosford, Terrigal, Erina and Tuggerah, and up into Newcastle and its surrounds such as Hamilton, Merewether and Charlestown. We also travel out to Tarago and the Southern Tablelands, and for larger productions we work throughout Australia and internationally. Wherever the shoot takes us, you get the same senior, hands-on team from first call to final cut.
